A £6.7 million housing complex in Glasgow has been shortlisted for the prestigious Saltire Society Housing Design Awards.

The Bellrock Close development, run by the charity Scottish Veterans Residences, has been helping veterans who struggle with civilian life since it opened in Glasgow in October last year.

Bellrock Close has been selected in the Innovation category.

Established in 1937, the awards celebrate the best in housing design in Scotland. Intended for owners, clients, architects, house-builders and housing developers of all shapes and sizes, the length and breadth of Scotland – the awards have recognised everything from single dwellings in the remotest reaches of the Highlands, to large scale commercial developments in the country’s major urban centres.

Bellrock Close, designed by MAST Architects of Glasgow, is a unique project which combines high quality, energy efficient and adaptable temporary housing for veterans with specially designed support facilities including an IT Suite, Training Rooms, Gym, Sensory Garden and a community cafe run.

The judging is underway with the results announced on 22 June.
