Share to spotlight governance, regulation and practical leadership at Annual Conference
The housing sector will take centre stage in Glasgow this April as professionals from across Scotland come together for a day of debate, learning and discussion, followed by an evening recognising the people and teams driving progress in services and communities.
The Share Annual Conference and Awards is expected to attract delegates involved in governance, leadership and frontline delivery across housing, property and related services on 30th April at the Hilton Glasgow.
Organisers say this year’s agenda has been shaped around the pressures facing the sector and the practical changes organisations are working through, with sessions designed to prompt frank conversation and useful takeaways.
Daryl McIntosh, chief executive with Share, said: “Housing teams are operating in a climate where expectations are higher, resources are tighter and scrutiny is more intense. Creating space to share learning and challenge thinking is not a luxury now, it’s a necessity.
“Share’s Annual Conference and Awards is about bringing people together to look at what’s changing, what good practice looks like, and how the sector can keep strengthening leadership and governance at every level.”
The daytime programme will feature a mix of keynote discussion, panel debate and interactive sessions, aimed at supporting delegates with real-world challenges that span regulation, service delivery and organisational resilience, with contributions from speakers including Professor Sir John Curtice, professor of politics at the University of Strathclyde; David Bookbinder, director of GWSF; Rory Cowan, partner at Bannatyne Kirkwood France & Co; John Blackwood, chief executive of the Scottish Association of Landlords; and Angela Currie, chief executive of Hanover (Scotland).
A key theme will be how housing organisations can respond to evolving standards and expectations, including the ways governance and leadership are adapting to meet new demands.
Delegates will also be invited to engage with practical sessions that explore emerging tools and approaches, including how digital change and new technology may influence the way teams work and plan.
Organisers say the focus is firmly on equipping attendees with insight they can apply within their own organisations, rather than simply describing the scale of the challenge.
The evening programme will turn attention to recognition, with the awards designed to highlight contributions across the sector - from individuals early in their careers to experienced leaders and teams delivering sustained improvement.
The awards will recognise achievement linked to governance, learning and professional development, as well as roles that often sit behind the scenes but are critical to safe, effective services.
Daryl added: “The most valuable stories in housing are often the ones that don’t make headlines, the steady work that improves services, supports colleagues and keeps people safe. The awards give us a moment to recognise that contribution properly.
“At the same time, the conference is an opportunity to look ahead. People are being asked to do more with less and we need to be honest about what support, skills and leadership will be required in the months and years ahead.”
The event forms part of Share’s wider work supporting learning, qualifications and professional development across Scotland’s housing sector, with a particular focus on strengthening governance and leadership.
Organisers say the April gathering is intended to support collaboration, giving delegates a chance to compare approaches, test ideas and build connections that continue beyond a single day.
While the programme is aimed at those working in housing and property services, it is also expected to appeal to people involved in community planning, customer service, asset management and organisational improvement.
As a registered charity, Share invests all profits back into the services it provides, and has three key values, to be supportive, passionate and excellent in all that it does.
