Taylor Wimpey West Scotland can confirm that work on a significant nine-month infrastructure programme to upgrade a section of Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton is completed.

The road will open on Thursday 22 December 2022 following a final inspection by South Lanarkshire Council’s Road department. Local road users should continue to follow any local diversion measures in place until the road fully opens to traffic.

A further two-week programme of resurfacing works is expected to start from 16 January 2023, which will require traffic management measures to ensure this work can be completed safely. A new road permit will be sought from South Lanarkshire Council by Taylor Wimpey’s contractors for this work to take place.

The upgraded section of Meikle Earnock Road offers better road widths, safer pedestrian crossing points, improved road surfaces and clearer visibility. This important infrastructure improvement forms part of Taylor Wimpey’s planning agreement with South Lanarkshire Council for its development of new homes at nearby Oakwood Grove in Hamilton.

Alison Henderson, special projects manager for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, commented: “I am pleased that we have been able to deliver this key local infrastructure, and I would like to thank members of the local community and those living along and around Meikle Earnock Road for their patience while this work was completed.

“The programme of improvements to Meikle Earnock Road makes this a safer route for all users and it will benefit the whole community, as well as those people who choose to buy a new home at our Oakwood Grove development.”
