Taylor Wimpey submits detailed plans for new development in Winchburgh

The land at Duntarvie Castle Road forms part of phase 2 of the wider Winchburgh masterplan that when complete will deliver at least 3,800 new homes, improved transport links, employment opportunities, and state-of-the-art schools. The masterplan will also provide stunning new outdoor spaces that will include a new canal marina, the creation of Auldcathie District Park, as well as a new motorway junction.

Taylor Wimpey’s application for Approval of Matters Specified by Condition (AMSC) forms part of the delivery of the masterplan vision, integrating its proposed new Auldcathie View development with the existing new housing and features completed in phase 1of the masterplan. The proposals include the provision of 46 three and four-bedroom private homes, as well as 55 affordable homes in a mix of two-bedroom cottage flats and three-bedroom terraced homes together with the associated infrastructure such as roads, parking and open space that is required for a development of this scale.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “Taylor Wimpey can confirm that an application for Approval of Matters Specified by Condition has been submitted for our land off Duntarvie Castle Road in Winchburgh, and we are looking forward to playing our part in the delivery of the Winchburgh masterplan. We will continue to work constructively with the local authority to secure our planning consent in the next few months, which will allow us to get on site as soon as possible this year.

“As well as an impressive range of new private and affor dable homes, our proposed development would provide a range of economic benefits for the local Winchburgh area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”

John Hamilton, chief executive, Winchburgh Developments Ltd, said: “We look forward to welcoming Taylor Wimpey to Winchburgh later this year as the development enters a very exciting stage. Work on the new 85-acre Auldcathie District Park, the canal marina and the schools’ campus is well underway, and we have recently revealed new images of the new town centre which will form the heart of this growing community.

“With so much to offer homebuyers we have seen excellent demand for new homes in Winchburgh, and as the development continues to progress, we are sure this demand will only continue to increase.”
