Tenants hail successful New Gorbals Housing Association conference
New Gorbals Housing Association (NGHA) welcomed more than 75 tenants to a hugely successful Tenant Conference on Saturday 28th March 2026.
This year, the conference focused on investing in the future, both in terms of how the Association plans to maintain its stock, and how tenants can become involved in shaping the future of the Gorbals.
The Association’s head of maintenance, Tracey McCauley delivered a presentation on how NGHA invests in its current properties, as well as how it plans to invest over the next five years.
Speaking of the investment work being undertaken, Tracey said: “We are often asked by tenants when they are likely to receive an upgraded kitchen or bathroom, so today’s presentation has helped address this and share the wider context of maintenance operations within NGHA.”
Fraser Stewart speaks at the conference
This year’s conference built on the last event, which took place in October 2024. NGHA director, Fraser Stewart, shared a presentation which updated tenants on the Association’s progress and plans, with a number of new build projects under construction or in the pipeline since the last conference.
Speaking about the conference, he said: “I am delighted to see so many tenants engage with the Association. Everyone who attended the conference has a real interest in what we’re doing as an Association and how we can all improve the Gorbals together.”
A number of NGHA tenants and residents also stood up to share how they are involved with the work of the Association and how important tenant participation opportunities are to them.
Tenants can participate and/or volunteer in a capacity that suits them, from supporting community events like the Gorbals Fair to joining the Tenants Panel or Management Committee to help shape the work of the Association.
Following table discussions, many tenants were pleased with the conference programme and the information shared on the day.
One tenant said: “I’m inspired by the passion of New Gorbals Housing Association and I’m so proud to be an NGHA tenant.”
While another noted that the conference is: “a good way to meet other tenants, know more about the New Gorbals and find out what is happening in the community.”
NGHA now plans to work through all the feedback gathered on the day to help inform future conferences and tenant engagement events.
