Damp, condensation and mould for Committee/Board

Who’s it for and what’s it about?

Damp, condensation and mould have been brought into focus recently following the tragic death of a young child in a housing association property in England, his death being attributed to exposure to damp and mould in the home. All associations will be re-visiting their plans and procedures in light of this.

As obligations from Awaab’s law look to be incorporated in Scotland, Committee/Board members must have an awareness of the issue, in particular: where you should be made aware of problems, the questions you should be asking of your organisations and the assurances board should be seeking on this issue so they can fulfil their tenant safety obligations to the community and the SHR.
