Over 120 local people took part in Cassiltoun Housing Association’s ‘relax’ event at the New Castlemilk Parish Church, organised in partnership with Drink Wise Age Well and The Bike Station.

The gathering at the weekend was in response to a similar smaller event in Summer 2016 after which Cassiltoun tenants said they wanted to do it again.

Tenants enjoyed hand massages, arts and crafts, mindfulness, yoga, delicious food from The Hideaway Cafe, a treasure hunt, a participation challenge, making smoothies on the smoothie bike, and free bike maintenance.

Lots of prizes were won at the Participation Challenge. People had to find out from housing managers John Williams at least one way that they could get involved in the Association. If they did, they received a free raffle ticket and the potential to win items such as a therapy at Castlemilk Relaxation Centre, art therapy books, or a ‘Golden Ticket’ with a mystery prize.

The Association now has a list of names who have signed up to one of the groups or who want to hear more about how to get involved. Some great ideas were shared, too, that the Association’s community development officer will work toward making happen.

Cassiltoun Housing Association said: “Thanks to all our partners who helped make this happen, and to all of those who turned up and got involved in what was a fantastic day of participation and community spirit!”
