East Kilbride Housing Association (EKHA) has been named ‘UK Employer of the Year’ at the annual Investors in People awards.

EKHA had been shortlisted in the elite and prestigious ‘Platinum’ category, the highest accreditation possible. Presenting their award at a glittering ceremony in Central London, TV presenter Anna Richardson said “Only 5% of organisations achieve the Platinum accreditation, so to win this award really makes EKHA the cream of the crop.

After accepting the award, EKHA’s chief executive Andy Young, said: “We are extremely proud to be recognised in this way. As an employer, the best way to achieve productivity is by ensuring that your people’s happiness and wellbeing are being facilitated. The results of our guidance by Investors in People as we worked our way through their accreditation process are palpable and more importantly measurable.

“Our wonderful team of staff and Board members have done the housing association sector proud and they have done Scotland proud, in a category that was open to all employers in the UK.”

EKHA chair Maureen Watson added: “To be chair of the best employer in the UK is the pinnacle of my long career in social housing. It is a brilliant sector to work in, especially in a place like EKHA. We will celebrate this of course but we intend to keep improving”.
