Judges for the Business Insider Scotland’s Best Employer Awards said the Co-operative “leads by example as an employer”, providing positive role models and opportunities for jobs and qualifications in deprived areas.

Presenting the award, host Des Clark said although Easthall has a small team, “they are certainly very vocal and very proud of their work”.

“The panel felt that this organisation linked employee and community development opportunities to improve the lives of the local community,” he added before welcoming Easthall director John McMorrow to accept the award.

Paul Waddell, secretary of Easthall Park, added: “We are particularly pleased to have won this award as it demonstrates that the Co-operative not only cares for its staff but also as recognised by the judges our community in which we serve. Given this is our 25th anniversary it is a fitting time to be recognised in this way.”
