East Kilbride Housing Association (EKHA) has unveiled Michael Gallagher as its new chair, following its 31st Annual General Meeting.
Michael takes over from Maureen Watson, who had to retire after her five-year stint. Michael is a retired housing manager, having worked for various social landlords in a long and successful career. He has been on the EKHA board since 2015, the last five as Vice-chair, and is looking forward to embracing his new role as chairperson.
Michael said: “I am grateful to my fellow board members for electing me. It is a privilege to hold the position of chair in such a high performing and award-winning organisation which I have been involved with for the last decade.
“I hope my experience on the board and my working life in the sector will help ensure we can not only maintain our high standards but improve on them to the benefit of our tenants.”
EKHA’s chief executive, Andy Young, added: “I would like to thank Maureen Watson for the support she gave to me during what was a challenging but ultimately successful five years.
“She leaves a legacy of a long list of successes and hands over to Michael with the organisation in excellent fettle.
“Michael was the unanimous choice of the board, and I am confident that he will continue where Maureen left off. I look forward to working closely with him to ensure that our tenants get the best service we can possibly provide.”
