The first tenants are moving in to the latest housing development to be completed by Kingdom Housing Association in Clackmannanshire.

The £2.9 million project has delivered 27 new social rented homes to Delph Road in Tullibody, on the southern part of the former Tullis Tannery site.

The new properties have all been allocated and John and Lynn Bell were among the first tenants to receive their keys to their new home.

Moving in with their three children, Mr & Mrs Bell said: “As we have lived in a flat for so many years having the opportunity to live in a beautiful home with a front and back garden really excites all of our family. This move will truly transform all of our lives and we look forward to this new chapter in our lives thanks to Kingdom Housing.”

GMP_Tullibody_3080Designed by Bracewell Stirling Architects and built by Campion Homes Ltd, the mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom properties homes have achieved various accreditation standards including Housing for Varying Needs; Secured by Design; and Building Controls Silver Standard of Sustainability.

The development is the second project to be completed by Kingdom Housing Association in Clackmannanshire through its partnership with Clackmannanshire Council.

The Scottish Government provided a subsidy grant of around £1.7m to support the project.

Bill Banks, chief executive at Kingdom, said: “Collaborative partnership between RSL’s and local authorities are encouraged by the Scottish Government and Kingdom has very positive working relationships with all the councils we work with given it provides mutual benefits and optimises the amount of affordable housing that can be delivered in the area.

“The Delph Road project is a good example of what can be delivered through collaborative working and I would like to thank Clackmannanshire Council for their support.”

Local councillors and housing staff from Clackmannanshire Council recently visited the project.

Council leader Councillor Les Sharp said: “It is wonderful to see the partnership working between the council, Kingdom and the Scottish Government deliver such high quality rental properties for the local community in Tullibody. This development is just one of the housing projects the council is working to deliver for local people throughout Clackmannanshire and adds to our continuous commitment to provide social housing for the residents of the Wee County.”

Cllr Tina Murphy, vice convener of housing, added: “It is wonderful to see such a high quality development in Tullibody, the finishes and interiors will provide warm comfortable homes for the residents, whom I hope enjoy many years of enjoyable living in this lovely setting.”

GMP_Tullibody_9806As part of this project, Kingdom has been able to provide community benefits through school projects and construction training placements. The project is located near the Delph pond and Kingdom has made a donation to the Delph Pond Forum to enable the local group to contribute to the costs of a new woodland path for community use.

Swans are a regular feature on the pond and the new housing project includes swan sculptures designed by Angie Turner which have been located as a central feature within the housing development.

Kingdom are also providing development services to the council for a project in Tillicoultry, which is on site and will provide 21 new council homes when it competes May 2016.

The Association also has plans to start on site at Primrose Place, Alloa next year to provide 16 further new homes.
