Planning consent for first new homes at new Dunfermline neighbourhood

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has received an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) detailed planning consent from Fife Council to build the first 68 new homes at the new neighbourhood of Whitefields in Dunfermline.

Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) has already been secured for the wider Whitefields masterplan, and the Whitefield Gardens development forms the first phase of the new neighbourhood.

The development will feature a mix of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom homes to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers, and, in recognition of the site’s heritage, will include a character seating area that incorporates the original dated lintel of the Wester Whitefields farmhouse. Micro-play areas will also be provided to encourage informal outdoor play.

A programme of infrastructure works, both on and off-site, is already well underway at Whitefields, and construction of new homes at Whitefield Gardens will commence in the coming weeks.

As the Whitefields masterplan develops, it will bring a range of benefits to the local community.

These include:

  • The creation of around 1,400 new properties offering a range of apartments and detached, semi-detached and terraced homes to appeal to a wide range of potential homebuyers.
  • A new primary school.
  • Provision for shops and community facilities.
  • Affordable homes.
  • New cycleways and pedestrian footpaths will encourage green, active travel throughout the development and connect with the existing local communities.
  • Key transport infrastructure improvements to Kingseat Road (West) and Whitefield Road (B912).
  • Incorporation of the new Northern Link Road into the development, including pedestrian crossings, to provide a safe route to schools.
  • Meadow grasslands to provide future homeowners with access to beautiful green open spaces to encourage healthy and sustainable living.
  • Two equipped play areas.
  • Measures to enhance the area for local wildlife and improve biodiversity by including features such as bug hotels and hedgehog highways.

Pauline Mills, technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are delighted to have secured our first AMSC planning consent for new homes at Whitefield Gardens and to continue making good progress in the significant preparations required to create our vision for the Whitefields neighbourhood.

“With the delivery of around 1,400 new homes, the creation of significant new infrastructure and improvements to existing transport links, as well as substantial community benefits, Whitefields is a brand-new community and place to call home in North Dunfermline.”
