Andrea Finkel-Gates
Scotland’s Housing Network (SHN) is working with experienced sector professional Alana Durnin from 4point2 Consultancy to refresh and redevelop its established Value for Money (VfM) service.
The collaboration marks a step forward for SHN’s VfM offering, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of social landlords across Scotland while maintaining a strong focus on accessibility, consistency and practical application.
The redevelopment will include a comprehensive review of SHN’s existing VfM service, alongside engagement with members and wider sector stakeholders to understand their needs and experiences. The refreshed approach will aim to provide robust, comparable insights that reflect the realities of Scottish housing finance and support both local authorities and registered social landlords.
Key elements of the work will include redesigning data collection and reporting tools, developing clear and accessible guidance, and strengthening the overall usability and credibility of the service. The project will be delivered collaboratively, with SHN members playing a central role in shaping the future model.
Andrea Finkel-Gates, chief executive of Scotland’s Housing Network, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Alana on this important piece of work. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the sector will be invaluable as we refresh our Value for Money service.
“This is a key priority for SHN, and we are committed to ensuring that the service reflects the realities our members face, while providing clear, consistent and meaningful insight. By working closely with our members, and wider sector stakeholders, throughout the process, we will ensure the refreshed service is both practical and impactful.”
Alana Durin added: “I’m delighted to be working with Andrea and the team at SHN on the redevelopment of the Value for Money service. SHN has a strong track record of supporting the sector, and this project is an excellent opportunity to build on that foundation.
“I’m particularly looking forward to engaging with members and the wider housing sector to understand their priorities and ensuring the refreshed service is proportionate, accessible and genuinely useful in supporting strong financial management and assurance.”
The project commenced in early June and will run over the coming months, with initial review work already underway.
