Scottish housing sector bodies launch surveys on housing and health

Key bodies of the Scottish housing sector have launched two surveys on the relationship between housing and health.

The surveys will look into how successfully housing and support services are aiding health, the obstacles that have not yet been tackled and what next steps should be taken.

The surveys have been created by Scottish Housing Day partners, such as CIH Scotland, Scottish Government, alongside housing and third sector organisations within Scotland. The responses from the survey will help to form a report which will be released on Scottish Housing Day 2026, which takes place on 16 September.

This year, the theme for the annual event is “healthy homes, healthy futures” with a focus on the purpose of housing in championing physical and mental health for residents and staff.

Ashley Campbell, CIH policy and practice manager, and chair of the Scottish Housing Day working group, said: “These surveys are designed to hear from both housing organisations and communities across Scotland – one for tenants and residents, and one for housing practitioners.

“Each takes no more than five minutes, and we’d encourage you to complete whichever is relevant to you and share it with your networks.

“There are also plenty of other ways to get involved in Scottish Housing Day – from writing an article about housing and health, to sharing a case study from your organisation, or hosting an event or discussion with residents on the day.”
