Taylor Wimpey to consult on Edinburgh homes plan

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, along with its development partner BL Chesser Ltd, plans to make a Planning Permission in Principle application to the City of Edinburgh Council later this year for the provision of around 150 new homes through the development of further land at Highfield, Gilmerton.

Located between the A7 Old Dalkeith Road and the B701 Ferniehill Road, on land adjacent to the ‘Drum’ estate, the proposed development will offer a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, of which 25% will be affordable.

Ahead of this application, Taylor Wimpey East Scotland is hosting an online public consultation event on Monday 18 January 2021 between 1.30pm-3.30pm and 5.00pm-7.30pm in order to keep the local community fully informed of its proposals for the development. This digital consultation will offer members of the public the opportunity to chat directly to Taylor Wimpey’s design team to provide their feedback and comments about the proposed development.

The public consultation information boards, along with details of how to join the online consultation event on Monday 18 January 2021 are available here. As part of Taylor Wimpey’s online approach to this consultation, members of the public are also encouraged to complete a ‘Have your say’ feedback form via this website to share their comments about the proposals.

Pauline Mills, land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “Our online public consultation event is an important part of our community engagement strategy for a new development, which allows us to discuss our development proposals for the area with key stakeholders and members of the community.

“Our public consultation event on Monday 18 January 2021 for Highfield will give us the opportunity to understand and consider the views from as many stakeholders as possible as we develop our proposal for our next development in the Gilmerton area of Edinburgh.

“Unfortunately, due to the ongoing health emergency, we are unable to hold our public consultation event in the traditional format, however I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the local community to engagewith us online to share their views so that we may consider these as we develop our emerging development proposal.

“Alternatively, our ‘Have your say’ form is also available on our website, and members of the public can give us their feedback in that way if this is more convenient.”
