Cath Johnstone Midlothian and Western Isles councils have become the first local authorities to announce a rise in council tax since 2006, following the Scottish Government’s decision to end the council tax freeze.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is developing a new Local Housing Strategy for the period 2017-2022 and wishes to gather as many views as possible on the priorities it should aim to address. The Strategy covers a five year period and is the sole local authority strategic document for housing in the area.

Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) has been awarded £340k from the Scottish Government as part of the Home Energy Efficiency Programmes Capital Acceleration Programme (HEEPS-CAP). HHP will use the funding to carry out room-in-roof insulation to 68 homes before April 2017.
